Modifications must relate to the senior applicant’s loss of ability and must provide improved access or increased physical safety to the home. The modifications must be necessary for your accessibility, health, and safety. Income of other household members is not considered with this program only. This funding is based on the senior applicant’s income or the seniors’ combined income (if living with a spouse or partner). You could receive up to $10,000 in assistance to help with the cost of the renovations. You may be eligible for the Seniors Safe Home Program if you need to make changes to your home in order to improve its accessibility to continue living there. If you are 60 years of age or older and you apply to the PEI Home Renovation Programs, you will be automatically assessed for the Seniors Safe Home Program. You could receive up to a maximum of $4,000 in assistance for eligible repairs such as repairs to a roof, windows, doors, or a furnace. If you are 60 years of age or older and you apply to the PEI Home Renovation Programs, you will automatically be assessed for the Seniors Home Repair Program to help with the cost of repairs to your home. In the case of an applicant with a permanent disability, a maximum of $16,000 may be available if the renovations improve the accessibility of the house. Eligible applicants may receive up to a maximum of $12,000 for eligible renovations to the structure, heating, plumbing, and electrical systems, or to improve life safety. The PEI Home Renovation Program provides financial assistance to qualifying Islanders to help cover the cost of major structural renovations to their homes. One application can be submitted to assess your eligibility for the PEI Home Renovation Program, Seniors Home Repair Program, and the Seniors Safe Program. The PEI Home Renovation Programs can provide financial assistance to home owners through three renovation programs.
